finally the new Ubuntu but….. which version???
this is the day of Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, the new linux desktop environment. Yuo can choose beetween two version: Desktop and alternate. The same operating system but different way to install and configure it.
The first difference is that the Desktop version is a live cd version, so you can try your new OS without install it. For this reason this version requires at least 256 MB of RAM memory, necessary to include all the OS.
The other one istea, the Alternate, doesn’t implement this functionality and so requires only 192 MB of RAM. If you have an old or low-spec computer, using a lightweight desktop system such as Xubuntu is recommended, as it should make more efficient use of your system’s resources.
If you choose the Alternate version while you are installing the system you have to set manually some file like xorg.conf so you have to know carefully your system and linux…….
